Niykee continues to write songs despite having been caught up in the latest crisis. Her selection was made for this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and he accompanied her on stage. Songwriting is a source of inspiration for aspiring producers. Niykee constantly listens to music and comes across beats that spark ideas. "I'll be able tell within the first 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I've a melody in my brain and I begin to write immediately." My guitar is on the porch, and I let the lyrics flow. It's usually done within 30 minutes. As she continues develop as a lyricist Niykee notes that her pain from the history is an unending source of unlikely inspiration. The pain I felt growing up as well as the loss of my sister is present in my songs, even though they're not exactly literal. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and gives it a deeper significance, something I consider very important. I'd like to be able listen to my songs in 20 years and still feel proud about my words.
